Senior Accountant
Major Tasks & Duties:
- Prepare audit/review/compilation plans and update
ongoing clients
- Train and educate clients on accounting software
and on the accounting process
- Prepare year end financial statements and related
working papers for audits, reviews and compilations
- Prepare Corporate and Personal Income Tax returns;
Trust, Not-For-Profit and other information returns and schedules
- Supervise and perform field work for audits,
reviews and compilations
- Perform follow up with clients and Canada Revenue
Agency
- Income tax research and other partner support
- Train and supervise other accounting staff
- Attend client meetings with senior staff
- Prepare transmittal documentation
- Draft portions of management letters
- Counsel and mentor other accounting staff
- Development and implementation of internal
procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- A designated Accountant, CGA, CMA or CA; or an
accounting student that has completed at least five levels of the
Certified General Accountants Association program of studies, or the
equivalent in a recognized accounting program, community college or
university
- Minimum of 3 years experience in public accounting
- Basic working knowledge of CICA, ITA., CGA Public Practice Manual,
Federal and Provincial legislation, GST, PST, WCB
- In depth computer knowledge of Caseware, Caseview, Simply,
Quickbooks, Excel and Word
- Excellent analytical skills and problem solving
skills
- Excellent organizational skills and communication
skills including time management, goal setting and planning
- Proven Team Player and a Self Starter
- Current references are required
